The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), a socially responsible institution committed to the people of the region, participated in an initiative to build houses for the needy in San Luis El Cristal in El Salvador.

San Salvador, El Salvador,  October 19, 2012.- In two days of intense activity, CABEI collaborators began building homes to benefit families in the community of San Luis El Cristal, San Vicente, El Salvador. The families currently live in extreme poverty and do not have a decent roof over their heads.

This CABEI social responsibility effort is part of its Institutional Responsibility Plan, and is carried out in coordination with the internationally renowned organization, TECHO.

In this way CABEI is meeting its commitment to promote social responsibility programs. Corporate volunteering is an enriching experience that makes it possible to provide adequate housing for thousands of low-income families.

Through the joint action of the beneficiaries and volunteers, the plan to build emergency low cost housing was a success. The houses are prefabricated 18 square meter modules, which can be constructed in three days.

In 2011, five homes were built in Playa El Pimental, Department of La Paz, El Salvador as part of the Institutional Responsibility Plan.

CABEI is making parallel efforts in each Central American country where it operates, with an investment of US$50 thousand to build 26 new homes in the region. These will benefit approximately 200 people who currently lack housing.
