CABEI and TECHO work together to benefit Guatemalan families

The continuous effort and encouragement of CABEI collaborators were the fundamental elements of this example of volunteerism and solidarity.

Personnel from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), together with the members of the TECHO organization, built six emergency houses for six families living in extreme poverty in the community of Las Montañitas in the Municipality of Santa Rosa in Guatemala.

The construction of these housing units benefited six Guatemalan families, most of which are headed by women, who are household heads or agricultural producers.

Luisa Noyola, the CABEI officer in charge of the activity, said that this important initiative is part of the Bank’s Institutional Responsibility Plan and confirms its commitment to improving the quality of life of those living in less favorable conditions on a regional level.

CABEI Director for Guatemala Mr. Oscar Pineda Robles participated in the activity and expressed his pleasure: “It was a wonderful life experience to join this noble cause and relate with these families to learn about their greatest needs. We did our best to try to improve their lives by providing them with a secure dwelling."

This social responsibility initiative carried out by CABEI is also part of its Institutional Responsibility Plan, which just received the SRE (Socially Responsible Enterprise) Seal, a recognition provided by the Honduran Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (FUNDAHRSE1).

In 48 hours, 6 teams of 5 people each constructed six 25 square meter houses, which will satisfy the basic housing needs for the inhabitants of the area of Santa Rosa, a community that is plagued by poverty and a lack of opportunities.
