Costa Rica has a subscribed capital of USD714.00 million and holds 10.79% of the shares of CABEI’s capital structure. At the close of 2020, the country has made capital payments for USD127.50 million. The Bank’s support to this founding member during the 2016-2020 period involved USD2.4 billion in approvals and USD1.6 billion in disbursements. During 2020, the Bank approved USD705.2 million to attend the COVID-19 pandemic, improve water systems, and foster the country’s competitiveness and social equity, while disbursing USD247.3 million for sewerage works and expanding the hospital and road infrastructure, among others.
