With CABEI’s support, Central Americans obtain PPP certification

The certification will be given through 10 modules to representatives of the executing units of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Tegucigalpa, June 9, 2017. - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the World Bank Group (WB) are jointly organizing the 2016-2017 Central American Public Private Partnership Training Program.

The program involves 5 modules for 30 participants from 6 countries of the region (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama). It is aimed at officials from the Ministries and Secretaries of Treasury or Finance responsible for the management and monitoring of fiscal risk and its impact on fiscal accounts. The program is also aimed at officials from institutions responsible for the promotion of Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects. Each Module will have a duration of 40 academic hours, including workshops, case development, presentation of experiences and debates.

The second training module will be carried out at CABEI’s installations in the city of Tegucigalpa between June 5 and 9. It will feature key note presentations from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

CABEI contribution to the subject

CABEI and the WB developed the 2012-2013 Central American Public Private Partnership Training Program for representatives of government entities related to the subject of PPP in order to provide training with respect to general terms related to the subject.

In addition, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), through the Millennium Account, are developing a PPP certification process based on the PPP Professional Certificate (CP3P), which is a training program implemented and promoted by several multilateral organizations.

The certification will be given in 10 modules to 50 participants. The certification programs will be carried out in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Course beneficiaries will be trained to acquire competencies in PPP fundamentals, best practices throughout the world, evaluation, structuring, contract management, accountability and other PPP related issues.
