The Training Program to structure, evaluate and manage Public Private Partnerships seeks to improve the efficiency and transparency of investment in Honduras.

Tegucigalpa, July 3, 2017. -Modules I and II of the Training Program to structure, evaluate and manage Public Private Partnerships were held with funds from the Millennium Challenge Account Threshold Program – Honduras and support from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) in order to improve the efficiency and transparency between the country’s public and private sectors.

This program is part of a training process involving 10 modules, at the end of which participants will receive a "PPP Professional Certificate" under the approval of the Global PPP Certification Program (PCG).

The PCG is an integral global certification program based on a PPP best practice guide that has been recently developed with the support of the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Public – Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility.

Trainees included more than 45 employees from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services; Commission for the Promotion of the Public - Private Partnerships; Ministry of Finance; Central American Bank for Economic Integration; National Electric Energy Company; and Superintendency of Public Private Partnerships, among other institutions.

The Threshold Program, which seeks to transmit international best practices with regard to PPPs, carried out a worldwide competitive process to have the best international experts in the field.

At the training event, Peruvian national and renowned international expert and consultant, Ana Inés Reátegui, talked about such subjects as PPP fundamentals, best practices throughout the world, case studies and specific instructions for the selection, project prioritization, evaluation, structuring and administration of PPP contracts, among others.

CABEI, which is the region’s strategic ally, seeks to promote spaces that foster training on different mechanisms in order to make progress in the sector.
