CABEI supports PPP training workshop in Guatemala

CABEI held a workshop that discussed the characteristics of a Public Private Partnership (PPP), its advantages over other types of mechanisms and the region’s particularities.

Guatemala City, November 9, 2016.– Today, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) inaugurated a training workshop denominated "Infrastructure Development with Private Sector Participation.”

The workshop was held as part of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Program with support from the National Agency for Partnerships for Economic Infrastructure Development (ANADIE) and CABEI co-financing in order to create discussion and participation spaces for the development of projects under this mechanism with a vision towards sustainable development.

CABEI’s Director for Guatemala, Mr. Emmanuel Seidner Aguado, welcomed the workshop attendees and highlighted the Bank’s work and financing to support initiatives under this mechanism, which involves using private capital for the construction of public infrastructure works and the establishment of public services in the region.

For his part, Mr. Seidner stated that, “At the end of the workshop, the participants will have a complete and strategic view of a Private Public Partnership (PPP) infrastructure project cycle and its components; the different participation modalities of the public and private sectors; and the outlooks of the government, private investors and operators, financial institutions and the general public.

The workshop sessions were held from November 8 to 17 at the Guatemalan Chamber of Industry; the workshop included participations from renowned experts on the subject, as well as national authorities and specialists from international organizations.
