The meeting took place on September 4, 5 and 6 in the city of Beijing, Republic of China.

Tegucigalpa, September 26, 2018.- As a member of the Multilateral Development Bank's Head of Procurement Forum (HOP), the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) presented its most recent advances in procurement and various actions it is taking to promote opportunities to improve procurement processes and how this could contribute to the competitiveness of the countries of the region.

On this occasion, CABEI gave an institutional presentation and its regulatory framework on procurement; this space allows the financial institution to be in tune with international procurement trends, strengthen its technical capacities and, in turn, establish support networks among its member countries.

In terms of challenges, the meeting made it possible to build bridges between multilateral organizations similar to CABEI in order to take advantage of the knowledge acquired and transform it into concrete actions to promote the worldwide implementation of procurement policies, procedures, best international practices and experiences; as well as to harmonize bidding documents, procurement guides and manuals.

The Multilateral Development Bank's Head of Procurement Forum has met annually for 18 years, is composed of 12 members, and each year the venue for these meetings is rotated. This year the host was the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and for 2019 it is planned to be held in Europe.

The following banks participated in the event: African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, Caribbean Development Bank, Council of Europe Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
