CABEI reached a significant milestone in terms of procurement and was granted accession to the Forum of Heads of Procurement of Multilateral Development Banks.

Tegucigalpa, March 16, 2018.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) was incorporated as a member of the Forum of Heads of Procurement of Multilateral Development Banks.
This accession is the result of the Bank's work to continue strengthening its procurement capabilities and knowledge, through the incorporation of best practices and international standards of the multilateral organizations that are members of this Forum.

For the Acting Executive President of CABEI, Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora, the importance of CABEI's accession to this Forum lies in "sharing the knowledge and necessary tools in terms of policies and organizational aspects that strengthen the capacities regarding procurement."

"CABEI reaffirms its commitment to partner countries to contribute to the economic and social development of the region with initiatives that strengthen its competitiveness in compliance with the provisions of its constituent mandate," said Rodríguez.

CABEI's interest and the need to take part in the Forum of Heads of Procurement of Multilateral Development Banks arose following the "First International Forum on Procurement Policies and Best Practices of Multilateral Banks" held in June last year. The European Investment Bank (EIB) acted as our sponsor and was in charge of presenting the request to the members of the forum and channeling all the information of the process.

The purpose of the group is to share information on the procurement policies of the different Multilateral Development Banks, which includes procedures and experiences; and to harmonize the members' focus on bidding documents, guides and manuals.

Its members include: African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, Caribbean Development Bank, Council of Europe Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
