This work presents a specialized design for citizen attention in order to strengthen community outreach and the prevention of domestic violence.
Guatemala, November 29th, 2023.- In order to strengthen the security and well-being of approximately 26,000 inhabitants of the municipality of San Luis Jilotepeque, in the department of Jalapa, and in a joint effort to safeguard the rights and freedoms of the community, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) supported the construction of the new police station, recently inaugurated by the Ministry of the Government (MINGOB).
The new police substation has a specialized design for citizen attention, as well as to improve community outreach and the prevention of domestic violence. It will also house 30 police officers and a specialist to assist victims of sexual and domestic violence.
This 322.5 square meter building offers administrative areas, food areas, dormitories and spaces dedicated to operational planning for prevention and criminal investigation, which will contribute to greater efficiency in the performance of police personnel's duties.
The new infrastructure is part of the Justice Sector Investment and Modernization Program, financed by CABEI with US$300 million, which seeks to contribute to improving security and the common good of Guatemalans, as well as the prospects for competitiveness in order to achieve a prosperous region full of opportunities.
The initiative represents an important step forward in the Infrastructure and Mobility Axis of the Police Transformation Strategy implemented by the Government of Guatemala through MINGOB.
