With CABEI support, more than 70,000 Guatemalans in Palencia benefit from new police station

This investment contributes to dignify the work performed by police officers in the service of citizens, as well as to strengthen security and prevention actions.

Guatemala, November 23rd, 2023.- In order to strengthen the security and well-being of more than 70,000 inhabitants of the municipality of Palencia, Department of Guatemala, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) supported the inauguration of a new police substation in Aldea El Fiscal, Palencia.

This new work is one of the seventeen contemplated in the project, and consists of 322.5 square meters, including sleeping areas, offices, reception, kitchen, armory and laundry, which will contribute to greater efficiency in the performance of police personnel's duties.

These investments will support the Special Police Forces in fulfilling their role of protecting and guaranteeing the exercise of people's rights and freedoms, preventing, investigating and fighting crime, maintaining public order and internal security, as well as having decent facilities that allow the work of the National Civil Police to be revalued.

This project is part of the Justice Sector Investment and Modernization Program, which is financed by CABEI for US$300 million. Of this amount, 87% was allocated to the construction, renovation and restoration of infrastructure, as well as the acquisition of equipment, in order to improve the security of the Guatemalan population.

CABEI reiterates its commitment to the region to promote projects aimed at strengthening the capacities of police institutions and providing high quality services to the population.
