The financing amounting to a total of US $120 million will enable the development of priority programs for the economic and social development of Argentina.

Tegucigalpa, February 21, 2018.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Ministry of Finance of Argentina, signed three loan agreements totaling US $120 million that will strengthen important social programs in this partner country.

The loan agreements were signed by the Executive President of CABEI, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, and the Minister of Finance of Argentina, Luis Caputo. President Rischbieth said "what we want is to contribute to the development of the economy, so the region can be a sustainable and very competitive area."

One of the loans is aimed at the Support Program for the Strategy for the Expansion of Coverage and Access to Initial Education (PROCEI) for an amount of US $30 million. The program consists of the construction and equipping of at least 29 schools for early childhood education using bioclimatic design elements and innovative constructive methodologies. The purpose is to increase educational coverage for more than 5,700 children aged between 3 and 5 years, belonging to socially vulnerable families in Argentina.

The second loan of US $30 million goes to support the Management of Health Outcomes for the Care of the Elderly Population in Argentina (PROGERSA) Project. The objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of the elderly and other priority populations of Argentina, through the improvement of the care management of the National Institute of Social Services for Retirees and Pensioners in the health care of its members.

The third loan will be used to finance the Integral Habitat Program in the north of the Argentine Republic, for an amount of US $60 million. The project aims to improve the conditions of 6,500 households residing in marginal settlements in the north of the country through social, community, infrastructure and equipment interventions under a comprehensive approach.
The Republic of Argentina joined CABEI as a partner country on March 24, 1995.
