The US$30 million in financing will promote improved healthcare and wellbeing opportunities for the most vulnerable population.

Tegucigalpa, December 20, 2016. - The Board of Directors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) granted a US$30 million loan to Argentina to finance a results-based healthcare management project for its elderly population.

The operation will strengthen the management of the National Institute of Social Services for Retirees and Pensioners (INSSJP), focusing particularly on patients affected by chronic diseases through the improvement of monitoring and evaluation systems, especially in the first level of attention.

CABEI Executive President Dr. Nick Rischbieth stated that, "CABEI works together with its member countries to support programs that improve opportunities for social development, services, administration and institutional organization."

By means of a press release, the Argentine Ministry of Finance announced that the results-based management plan funded by CABEI contains five goals.

The Plan involves the implementation of a performance management system for head doctors at the INSSJP and has available funds amounting to 22 million dollars, of which 18 million will be provided by CABEI and 4 million will be provided locally. An electronic medical history of each affiliate will also be prepared; this will enable interconnection with healthcare providers in other sectors, thus contributing to the national health information system. This component will involve an investment of 7.5 million dollars, 6 million contributed by the Bank and 1.5 million by the Argentine government.
