Tegucigalpa, November 28, 2023.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), through the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES), are developing the International Course "Open State in Latin America and the Caribbean". The purpose of this program is to provide conceptual and practical knowledge for the formulation of government transparency initiatives, citizen participation and collaboration between governments and citizens.

The training program is aimed at public officials, members of non-governmental organizations, academics and citizens interested in topics such as open government, transparency, access to information, open data, among others. The virtual phase of the program began on October 25 and the classroom phase will be held from November 27 to December 1 at ECLAC headquarters in Mexico City.

CABEI supports this initiative within the framework of the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding signed with ECLAC that seeks, among other issues, to promote transparency and openness within the application of its Access to information policy. To this end, the Bank is providing 13 scholarships for public officials from partner countries and will also participate as a facilitator in the face-to-face phase, contributing its vision and experience on these issues.

The Bank is committed to promoting these types of activities to increase public awareness of the importance of transparency and accountability to improve development results, as well as to maintain an open and inclusive dialogue in order to continue strengthening the implementation of its Access to Information Policy.
