CABEI supports environmental awareness campaign "RAEEnovando El Salvador"

San Salvador, November 3th, 2023. - In line with its cross-cutting axis of environmental and social sustainability, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) supports the "RAEEnovando El Salvador" campaign of the National Cleaner Production Center (CNPML), which consists of planning and developing strategies and awareness campaigns on the proper management of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

With this initiative, more than 800 children and more than 1,500 adults have been made aware of the problem of Electronic Waste. These activities took place in The Children's Park and at the Andrés Bello University, through different games, dynamics and workshops to collect electronic waste such as UPS, CPUs, CDs, DVDs, cell phones, chargers, car batteries, among others.

Once the campaign is over, the collected materials will be delivered to an authorized recycler that will make the proper final disposal, which will prevent hazardous substances such as lead or mercury, which are harmful to the ozone layer and human health, from being exposed. In addition, it will raise awareness among children about proper waste disposal and promote care and preservation of the environment.

Thus, CABEI, as the region's Green Bank, is a strategic partner for the NCPC, supporting actions to promote initiatives to preserve and positively impact the environment and fight climate change.
