Tegucigalpa, June 13th, 2023.- As part of Environment Month, more than 90 volunteers from theCentral American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) in Honduras and their families participated in a new reforestation day in El Picacho Park in Tegucigalpa, helping to preserve the environment and the natural wealth of the area by planting 600 trees.

This initiative of the Bank is a way to offset the paper consumption generated in its representative offices in the region and is part of its Environmental Management System (EMS) to manage the operations and administrative activities in its buildings in Honduras and El Salvador, which are certified under ISO 14001:2015 in Honduras and El Salvador.

In the activity, children, teens and adults shared a beautiful morning caring for the environment and left their contribution to reduce the greenhouse effect, water conservation, decrease soil erosion, reduce the heat island effect, among others.

Since this event’s inception 13 years ago, CABEI volunteers have planted 23,050 trees in the region, actions that are in line with the Bank's Environmental and Social Policy, which includes a Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility System (SASC) that promotes good practices internally.

Integration and commitment to the environment is one of CABEI's pillars in its 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy, aimed at adopting and promoting good environmental practices, reducing the negative effects of its daily operations on the environment and promoting environmental sustainability in its areas of influence.
