New alliances to boost cooperation and regional integration
CABEI President Dr. Dante Mossi proposed joining forces with multilateral development institutions to build a better region.
Tegucigalpa, May 24, 2019.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a framework for cooperation in order to strengthen knowledge management and public policies on economic integration in the region.
Both entities signed an agreement to promote joint programs and review policies and projects that contribute to the Central American integration process complementary to the OECD Regional Program for Latin America and the Caribbean and the Central American Initiative promoted by said entity.
Furthermore, the document considers the following areas of action: financial integration, value chains, intellectual property, investment, public procurement, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), statistics, tourism, commercial facilitation and commercial promotion, among others.
Establishing conditions for a better future
The signing of the document was part of the tour of CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, to France and his first participation at the "8th Steering Group Meeting - OECD Latin America and Caribbean Regional Program." During his speech, Dr. Mossi highlighted that the Central American region has great potential to generate growth and wellbeing for its inhabitants.
He added that achieving economic growth in the region will only be possible with strategic allies that provide new knowledge to serve as an example of successful development models.
In 2019, CABEI has plans to develop a value proposal based on a set of initiatives aimed at boosting regional competitiveness, especially in the MSME sector with a focus on environmental sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship and strengthening of the gender approach.
