A donation from the Bank will enable schoolchildren, teachers and families to receive biosafety kits in 10 of the country's departments.

Guatemala City, September 6, 2021 - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Guatemalan Volunteer Center (CVG) are implementing the "Clean and Safe Schools" social project, which will provide biosafety supplies to 4,300 students, to promote hygiene practices and prevent the spread of diseases in rural communities.

As a contribution to this cause of solidarity, CABEI Country Chief Officer, César Mendizabal, presented a donation of US$2,500 to the CVG on Monday, which will be used to purchase part of the hygiene and biosecurity supplies that will be delivered to 10 schools nationwide at the time of the return to school.

"We are very pleased to be part of this initiative and to collaborate with many Guatemalan families, teachers and children to preserve their health conditions in a comprehensive manner. CABEI will continue to identify and support projects that make it possible to carry out health awareness campaigns and provide basic supplies to the region's most vulnerable groups," commented CABEI Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi.

The project will be supported by volunteers, partner companies and social work students for the management and collection of in-kind donations, the development of health practices and the provision of free nutritional and psychological care to the families supported by this initiative.

This grant is part of CABEI's Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility System (SASC), which strategically addresses the challenges and opportunities that benefit people and the environment in Central America.
