The region is going through a very interesting moment on the subject of entrepreneurship; in this context, the DINAMICA Initiative leverages the business development centers.

Guatemala, March 9, 2018.- Important actions are strengthening the entrepreneurial fabric, the young and innovative MSMEs in Guatemala. One of them is promoted by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), as the executing entity of the Initiative for the Development of Business Ideas and Acceleration of Central American MSMEs (DINAMICA).

According to the results of 2017 and after a year of work, the DINAMICA Initiative approved seven non-reimbursable technical grants totaling up to US $396,838.00, which translates into opportunities for entrepreneurs in the country.

Contribution to the Entrepreneurial Fabric
In this same year the technical assistance was directed to the institutional strengthening of the Dynamic Business Development Centers (CDED), focused on promoting the technical and entrepreneurial skills of entrepreneurs with business ideas of social impact, and rural young entrepreneurs. The ventures focused on community tourism, among others. They are located in the departments of Quetzaltenango, Sacatepéquez, Chimaltenango, Santa Rosa, Cobán, San Marcos, Petén and Guatemala City.

An important trend reported by the Initiative is that it has had a direct impact on the enterprises with growth potential and a high impact at the local level. The technical assistance provided to entrepreneurs strengthens their technical, business and commercial capabilities, enabling growth strategies in them as well as development for the stages of creation, formalization and consolidation of their businesses.

Financial Institutions in Guatemala have also benefited from these technical assistance resources aimed at the creation of financial products for entrepreneurs that include transparency and financial education components.

One example of the benefited enterprises is "Orquigonia", a company that promotes guided visits within a natural reserve with more than 86 bird species and the protection of 50% of all orchid species located in the department of Cobán, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.

Orquigonia will benefit from technical assistance related to internal control processes (process improvement and financial management) with the aim of expanding its project by increasing the number of visitors to this natural reserve.

All these efforts are of utmost importance in order to strengthen and grow the Guatemalan entrepreneurial ecosystem, fostering the emergence of new companies and reducing the mortality of the enterprises in their early stages of development.
