Catacamas to improve potable water service

With an 80.6 million Lempira investment, Spain’s Debt Conversion Program to Honduras will build a potable water system in the City of Catacamas, Olancho.

Catacamas, September 21, 2016. -  Today, Spain’s Debt Conversion Program to Honduras, which is administered by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), placed the first stone of the Project, “Construction of a Potable Water System in the City of Catacamas, Olancho.” The project will directly benefit the City of Catacamas and its 47,000 inhabitants.

The Project involves the construction and startup of a new potable water system for the city of Catacamas, including the installation of a 140 liter compact water treatment plant, the procurement of conduction piping, the construction of a 500,000 gallon storage and distribution tank and the installation of a water quality measurement laboratory.

The actions carried out by this program are in line with the development policies of the governments of Honduras and Spain, as well as with the Social Development axis of CABEI’s 2015-2019 Institutional Strategy

In this way, CABEI, the region’s strategic ally, reaffirms its commitment to supporting high-impact projects in favor of regional economic integration and social development.
