CABEI volunteerism makes it possible for people to participate in their own development and reinforces social cohesion, which leads to the sustainable development of Central Americans.

Tegucigalpa, November 5, 2016. - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) joins the celebration of International Volunteer Day, which is an opportunity to commemorate people’s hopes and commitment to building a better world.

2016 was an important year for the consolidation of the CABEI volunteer model. The model’s actions are aimed at strengthening awareness raising practices and generating positive impacts on different interest groups.

CABEI's Institutional Volunteerism Program is achieved thanks to the commitment and dedication of the Institution's officials in each of the member countries. These individuals voluntarily dedicate part of their time to creating, promoting and strengthening community improvement initiatives.

Volunteerism at CABEI focuses on promoting actions that have a significant impact on the environment and on community development. The volunteering activities carried out lead to important contributions for development.

CABEI Executive President Dr. Nick Rischbieth commented that volunteerism at the Institution is essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and should involve the participation of a wide range of people at all stages, levels and times.

CABEI Executive Vice President and President of the CABEI Institutional Responsibility Plan Committee, Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez, added that volunteerism contributes to combating poverty, hunger and exclusion; promotes improved education; and fosters universal sustainable development. Volunteerism also enables people to participate in their own development and reinforces social cohesion, which leads to sustainable development.

CABEI seeks to diversify its volunteer programs in order to make positive impacts on a greater number of people and provide solutions for development challenges.
