CABEI holds Christmas breakfast for Honduran media

CABEI recognized the important work carried out by the Honduran media.

Tegucigalpa, December 9, 2016. -  This morning, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) held a traditional Christmas breakfast with members of the Honduran media. On this occasion, CABEI Executive President, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, invited local media members to a relaxed meeting, which was significantly different to the usual CABEI press briefings and institutional events.

Dr. Rischbieth stated that, "The event aims to recognize the outstanding work carried out by media members during the year. The Honduran media has made valuable contributions to the development of Honduran society by means of professional, responsible and transparent journalism.”

After recognizing the media, Dr. Rischbieth gave a presentation highlighting the positive efforts carried out by the Institution during 2016, such as the amendments made to the constitutive agreement.

For his part, CABEI Executive Vice President, Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez, summed up the most outstanding achievements and projects carried out by the Bank in 2016, including those executed during the first 18 months of implementation of its 2015-2019 Institutional Strategy. The achievements included: 8.3 million beneficiaries of improved road infrastructure; 6.4 million beneficiaries in the area of competitiveness; 538,120 beneficiaries of water and sanitation projects; 2.0 million subscribers to energy services; more than 350,000 higher education students; 52,000 hospital beneficiaries; and the generation of 132,740 jobs.

The breakfast meeting was also attended by CABEI’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Hernán Alvarado; Strategic Planning and Programming Advisor, Mr. José de Jesús Rojas; and Institutional Relations Advisor, Mr. Salvador Sacasa.

The event concluded with a succulent breakfast and a raffle of various useful gifts that will facilitate the media’s work.
