CABEI formalizes its definitive dissociation from the Agua Zarca Project
Tegucigalpa, April 17, 2020.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) announces the conclusion of the process of definitive dissociation from the Agua Zarca project in Honduras.
This puts an end to the process that started in 2016 when CABEI stopped disbursing funds to the project.
The project left lessons learned that have translated into changes and adjustments to our operating policies.
Noteworthy changes implemented includes the establishment of a cross-cutting strategic axis of environmental sustainability throughout the business model and its incorporation into the Institutional Strategy, its mission, vision and strategic purpose. Likewise, the axis is aligned with provisions of the world development agenda, in particular to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In recent years, CABEI has sought to work actively towards sustainable low-carbon development. The Bank directs its efforts to promote integration and economic and social development through the generation of employment and well-being.
CABEI reiterates the importance of the free, prior and informed consultation process, considering that the relationship with those involved in the projects is a key and fundamental part of the processes that guarantee correct execution.
