To facilitate access to knowledge in order to increase economic development and Central American integration is one of the activities promoted by CABEI Student Loan Program in the region.

To broaden their business horizons and facilitate access to thousands of young Central Americans to financing of higher education, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) today signed an educational credit agreement with the Universidad de Ciencias Comerciales (UCC) in the Republic of Nicaragua.

CABEI Educational Credit Program (PBCE) is open to all Central American universities, which must apply to the eligibility process of CABEI to have access to resources.

At present this important program of CABEI has USD $4 million dollars available to support the youth across the region.

This initiative called CABEI Educational Credit Program (PBCE), is a mechanism to promote increased education rates in Central American countries, which is financed with CABEI funds and with contributions from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), granted through the International Cooperation and Development Fund of Taiwan (TaiwanICDF).

During the event, CABEI Director for Nicaragua, Dr. Silvio E. Conrado G., explained that this strategic alliance is part of the efforts promoted by the multilateral bank to boost high impact initiatives in the region, having as primary goal the development of the Central American peoples.

Dr. Silvio E. Conrado confirmed that with this agreement in Nicaragua CABEI strengthens the efforts made by this organization on the issue of funding for education in the isthmus.

CABEI invites young Central Americans to visit the universities that are currently affiliated to the education credit program, such as: American University, AMULAC, Thomas More, UdeM and the Universidad Centroamericana, to learn about the educational programs and meet the minimum requirements for their respective credit.

Currently, the UCC has three campuses in the city of Managua, Leon and Matagalpa, where classes to undergraduate and graduate level are taught. The student population at the end of 2013 amounted to 27,375 students throughout the UCC.
