CABEI and UDB strengthen professional competencies in energy efficiency to enhance MSMES

CABEI sets in motion a process of education in priority areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency seeking the protection of climate and the environment.

El Salvador October 17 2014.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) through the Green Initiative MSMES performed the official launch of the certificate in efficiency and renewable energy.

With the objective of strengthening the professional competencies and practices in the area of energy efficiency, the Don Bosco University -UDB - and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) developed the certificate in efficiency and renewable energy.

An initiative aimed at business executives from financial institutions to provide them with the knowledge and specialized tools that allow them to advise to the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMES) in the field of renewable energies.

This program will enable the identification of potential projects in this field in order to link them to building instruments for its implementation.

Among the results, it is hoped that the professional implement mechanisms of sustainability eco-efficient in the companies and institutions, in addition to generate awareness on the environmental, economic and social dimensions and manage new business opportunities in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

It seeks to generate alternative solutions that strengthen the economic development in El Salvador.

Energy efficiency and renewable energy
These initiatives in the UDB energy issues are executed from the Energy Research Institute (ISI), which began operations in 2010 and is a product of the experience accumulated by the Don Bosco University for more than a decade, in the implementation of various programs related to the topic.

Within the areas of priority development of Don Bosco University is the energy issue as part of the prospect management and innovation of its strategic planning, which has led to the creation of projects contributing to the country human resource formed on this issue, has strengthened capabilities within the industry and the community and has contributed to the generation of new knowledge through the development of research.

The Green MSME Initiative executed by the CABEI, is a tripartite initiative with the financial support of the Government of Germany (through KfW) and the European Union which account funding for small-scale, renewable energy projects and energy efficiency amounting to US$44.5 million dollars, channeled through financial institutions clients of CABEI. It also has a program of technical cooperation that amounts to US$ 4.5 million, intended to provide technical cooperation for Financial Institutions, energy diagnostics in MSMES and studies for renewable energy projects, combined with the promotion and awareness of the issues.
