13/12/2023

San Salvador, December 13th, 2023. CABEI Director for El Salvador, Alejandro Zelaya, presented a donation valued at US$12,000 to the Ayúdame a Vivir (Help me Live) Foundation in an effort to strengthen the medical care provided to children with cancer.

The "Spot Vital Signs" project includes the purchase of 2 Welch Allyn vital signs monitors, with their respective mobile pedestal, temperature probe, 500 temperature taking blankets, 2 pediatric bracelets, among others. With these spots, it will be possible to evaluate the vital signs of children and adolescents from 0 to 17 years of age who are undergoing chemotherapy treatment and monitoring.

The Ayúdame a Vivir Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides medical treatment and comprehensive support to children with cancer at no cost to their families. This alliance with CABEI will further strengthen the foundation's capacity to monitor and address medical needs more efficiently and effectively.

This would be CABEI's second donation to the Foundation, since 2021, another donation was made for the purchase of 17 recliners.

The Spot Vital Signs donation will enable the Ayúdame a Vivir Foundation to carry out more accurate and constant monitoring of patients' vital signs, thus improving the quality of medical care provided. This gesture of solidarity reflects CABEI's commitment to the well-being of the community and its support for initiatives that make a difference in the lives of children affected by cancer.

These spots will benefit more than 1,500 children undergoing treatment for childhood cancer at the Ayúdame a Vivir Foundation. It should be noted that 93% of these patients live in poverty and 40% of them live in extreme poverty.

With CABEI's support to this Foundation, it reiterates its commitment to contribute in different areas to its member countries.
