With a donation of desks, CABEI contributes to the education of 379 Guatemalan youths in San Pedro Ayampuc

Guatemala City, November 27th, 2023.- Promoting better educational conditions for primary school students in Guatemala, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) made a donation of 200 desks to the "María de Matías" Labor Vieja Cooperativa Basic Education Institute, located in San Pedro Ayampuc, Aldea Labor Vieja, in Zone 18 of the capital city.

The furniture, valued at US$5,000, will improve the educational facilities of 379 young people enrolled in the institute, who come from 12 communities and 6 surrounding neighborhoods, and who receive their classes in either the morning or afternoon.  The beneficiaries will have access to a comfortable and appropriate space for their educational development, which translates into improved academic performance and the consolidation of a stimulating learning environment.

The donation is part of CABEI's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility System (SASC), through which it joins efforts to support the population at social risk, prioritizing attention to social factors that influence quality of life such as education, food security, health and housing.

CABEI reiterates its commitment to collaborate closely with its member countries to implement programs and projects that strengthen education and contribute to improving people's quality of life in order to achieve sustainable development in the region. All of this in compliance with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4, which seeks to guarantee inclusive, equitable and quality education, promoting learning opportunities for all.
