Madrid, January 17, 2018.-  The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) presented a program to the Central American Council of Tourism (CCT) that encourages the competitiveness and sustainability of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the region.

The Regional Competitiveness and Sustainability Program for Tourism MSMEs (PROMITUR) was developed, with the objective of providing opportunities to the tourism sector of the Central American region through the financial institutions with which the Bank works, and in response to the Strategic Plan for the Sustainable Tourism Development of Central America of the CCT.

CABEI explained the implementation process that PROMITUR will have, and the credit opportunities for the tourism sector featuring adequate conditions, specialized technical assistance, certifications, and access to new markets and technologies.

PROMITUR is a consensus Program between the tourism authorities of the SICA countries, the Secretariat of Central American Tourism Integration, and the Federation of Central American Chambers of Tourism.

In this way, PROMITUR has become CABEI's new program of financial intermediation for the benefit of tourism MSMEs and associations, cooperatives or guilds related to tourism MSMEs.
