Tegucigalpa, March 15, 2017. – Currently, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is the main source of resources for the region’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector. Through its different programs and projects, the Bank has invested over US$2.0 billion in the region.

During her participation at AL-Invest Academy 5.0, CABEI Project Manager Ms. María Gabriela García highlighted the different programs and opportunities for development cooperation that the Bank offers to the Central American business sector.

The AL-Invest Academy, which promotes the professional development of directors and intermediate positions of organizations with cameral and union representation, is held from March 13 to 17 in the City of Asia, Lima (Peru). It seeks to boost the productivity of Latin American micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as an effective and sustained mechanism for reducing poverty in the region.

During her presentation, Ms. Garcia also stated that CABEI currently has 16 Financial Intermediation programs available to Intermediary Financial Institutions (IFIS) that have a global credit line approved by the Bank. In addition, these 16 programs provide attention to the MSME sectors related to climate phenomena, agribusiness, biodiversity, factoring, energy, entrepreneurs, gender, education, housing, municipalities and foreign trade.

CABEI is making progress on identifying the most appropriate financing sources to meet the needs of business organizations and on creating mechanisms for presenting projects pursuant to the minimum requirements.

The Bank’s participation in this training event reiterates its commitment as a financing instrument aimed at promoting economic growth and generating employment through the MSME sector.
