CABEI Presents Country Strategy for Sustainable Development in Panama

Since 2007, Panama has been a member of the multilateral as a regional non-founding member.

Panama City, November 23nd, 2023 - Contributing to Panama's environmental, social and economic development, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) presented its Country Strategy, which defines the multilateral's support in priority areas of action and indicative projects in accordance with the interests and prioritized demand of the public and private sectors.

The Panama Country Strategy also focuses on initiatives and objectives that benefit thousands of people, promoting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as contributing to improving access to water and sanitation services, and the expansion of the country's road network, among others.

During the presentation of the document, the Bank highlighted the importance of achieving sustainable development in the country by combating poverty and inequality, as well as the search for new forms of environmental protection under four fundamental strategic frameworks: efficient governance, competitive economy, quality of life/social and sustainable development.

CABEI, as the region's main strategic ally, will continue to work transversally in the development of science, technology and innovation, with applicability in sectors such as energy, health, government management, education, port logistics and foreign trade in order to boost the growth of these sectors and take advantage of their maximum potential.

Founded more than 60 years ago, CABEI is an international multilateral development finance institution whose resources are invested in initiatives that have an impact on development, reducing poverty and inequality, strengthening regional integration and the competitive insertion of its member countries.
