Panama held National Robotics Olympics with CABEI support
Nearly 100,000 visitors, including students, professors and tutors, came from 110 countries around the world.
Panama City, November 16th, 2023.- With the purpose of promoting the interest of children and young people in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics through innovation, collaboration and problem solving, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) supported the National Robotics Olympics WRO Panama 2023, organized by FUNDESTEAM in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) and the First Lady’s Office.
This year's event, which took place between November 7th and 9th, received approximately 100,000 visitors, including students, teachers and tutors, and is themed "Connecting the World" to encourage a competition aimed at teams of children and young people between the ages of 8 and 19 who use STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) education through educational robotics to solve various challenges that encourage logical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills in a fun and exciting way.
This action on the part of CABEI is in addition to the non-reimbursable cooperation efforts approved by the multilateral for Panama during 2023 for a total of US$475,000. With these funds, nearly 13,000 boys and girls students from more than 20 educational centers in Panama will receive technical-scientific and artistic training from the preschool stage. In addition, more than 45 teachers will be certified in STEAM education.
