More than 600 students from rural areas in Costa Rica strengthen their sports and music skills with CABEI support
• A donation to the Juan Rafael Chacón Castro School in Boca Arenal, San Carlos, contributes to social integration and the promotion of comprehensive multidisciplinary skills in school children.
San José, October 11th, 2023. - Promoting a more dynamic, comprehensive and democratic education for 617 students from the Boca Arenal community in San Carlos de Alajuela, Costa Rica, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) recently donated sports equipment and musical instruments to the Juan Rafael Chacón Castro School to strengthen their cognitive, emotional and social development.
The musical instruments strengthened the student band and enriched their presentations at institutional events such as the recent Independence Day parade, while the basketballs and their respective backboards allow them to diversify their physical education classes.
Motivated by its principles of promoting development and social inclusion, CABEI decided to support the solution of the school's didactic needs, taking into particular consideration that a high percentage of the student body is migrant, promoting the efforts made by the educational center to welcome this population in the best possible way and enable their integration into the local social dynamics through values such as coexistence, respect and the collective construction of ideas.
In addition, sports and artistic activities promote the recognition, visibility and appreciation of the multicultural richness present in the institution, which enhances democracy and promotes the development of mechanisms that contribute to guaranteeing the human rights of all people.
