Launch of “Curriculum Redesign” project seeks to innovate education

More than 48,000 Salvadoran students from the Universidad Francisco Gavidia will benefit from the “Curriculum Redesign” program.

San Salvador, April, 04, 2017. – By means of a non-reimbursable technical cooperation, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and Universidad Francisco Gavidia (UFG)  launched the project denominated "Curriculum Redesign" in the framework of the CABEI Educational Credit Program (PBCE).

The project seeks to carry out a curriculum redesign in the subjects offered by the UFG to its students; it involves 2 components: 1) Implement a subject on entrepreneurship, innovation, design and teacher training and; 2) implement a systematic process to update study and design plans, as well as teacher training.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mrs. Florencia Miao-hung Hsie; CABEI Director for El Salvador, Mr. Guillermo Funes Cartagena; and UFG President, Mr. Mario Antonio Ruíz.

The initiative is part of the PBCE, which is a mechanism created to promote increased education rates in the Central American countries, that is financed with CABEI’s own funds and with contributions from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) granted through its International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF).

To date, the PBCE has disbursed a total of US$5.6 million, benefiting approximately 469 students; 225 women and 244 men. Currently, a total of 24 universities located in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica offer the PBCE.
