CABEI Board of Directors chooses the shortlist of three candidates for the election of the Executive President

After a rigorous interview process, the CABEI Board of Directors has chosen the shortlist of three candidates for the election of the new Executive President of the Bank from the list proposed by the prestigious firm Heidrick & Struggles.

Cancún, October 25, 2023.- In compliance with the previously defined schedule, the CABEI Board of Directors, after a rigorous interview and evaluation process, has chosen the shortlist of three candidates that will be submitted to the Board of Governors of the Institution to select to the new Executive President.

As has been announced, the candidate selection process has been conducted by the renowned firm Heidrick & Struggles, New York office, in search of the ideal professional to carry out a position of such relevance to the social and economic development of the region. This firm presented a list of six candidates, who were exhaustively interviewed and evaluated by the Bank's Board of Directors.

The shortlist of three selected by the Board of Directors is made up of the following professionals in alphabetical order:

  1. Ana Gisela Sánchez Maroto, Costa Rican, industrial engineer. Her professional experience highlights include the positions of Regional Director of Strategy of BAC Costa Rica, Regional Director of Corporate Relations of Florida Ice & Farm Company and President and CEO of Global Endeavors, with extensive experience in executive and management positions in economic matters, financial, banking and development policies.
  2. Bernardo José Alfaro Araya, Costa Rican, civil engineer. His professional experience highlights include the positions of General Manager of the National Bank of Costa Rica, General Superintendent of Financial Entities in his country and Deputy General Manager of Risk and Credit of the National Bank of Costa Rica, with extensive experience in development banking, commercial banking, investment banking and banking supervision.
  3. Jaime Roberto Díaz Palacios, Guatemalan, economist. His professional experience highlights include the positions of Executive Vice President of CABEI, Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank and Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Program-PRONACOM, with extensive experience in financial development and creation of political reforms.

This shortlist of three is being submitted to the consideration of the Board of Governors, which, in accordance with the regulations in force at the Bank, is responsible for electing a new Executive President. For this purpose, the Bank's Board of Directors has convened a meeting of the Board of Governors on November 17, with the understanding that, in accordance with the same regulations, it has the power to request that more candidates be presented to them in case they deem it appropriate.
