• Three educational institutions with vulnerable population were benefited from the donation of 90 desks each.

San José, July 7th 2023.- In line with its commitment to guarantee quality education in its member countries, and to ensure that Costa Rican students have adequate infrastructure and facilities to have their classes, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved the donation of 270 desks to three educational centers where vulnerable populations study.

With an amount equivalent to US$15,000, 90 desks were provided to the Francisco José Orlich Bolmarcich Professional Technical School in Sarchí Norte, in Valverde Vega, Alajuela; 90 to the Jarquín School, in the province of Puntarenas, and another 90 to the Carmen Lyra School, in Alajuelita for a total of 270 desks.

The donations were made by Erwen Masís, CABEI Director for Costa Rica, who said, "Education is the most powerful weapon for generating opportunities and boosting competitiveness in our countries, which is why something as basic as a desk can make a difference in the day-to-day life of a child who goes to learn comfortably.”

As part of its 2020-2024 strategic vision, CABEI promotes investment in education to strengthen human capacities in favor of labor productivity. In this way, the Bank contemplates guidelines that will enable it to undertake a school infrastructure agenda to improve the region's human capital in the medium and long term.
