Cybersecurity seminar held at CABEI
The seminar provided updates on cybersecurity protection mechanisms with new knowledge and strategic alliances.
San José, May 2, 2019.- In order to share practical knowledge and strengthen the protection measures of Costa Rican public institutions, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) sponsored the "Joint Cybersecurity Seminar."
During the event's inauguration, CABEI Costa Rica Country Manager, Mauricio Chacón, highlighted that this activity is of greater importance for the Bank. At the event, Korean experts contributed with experience and knowledge in the field.
In addition, Mr. Chacón indicated that the forum seeks to share practical knowledge and strengthen the cybersecurity relationship between national cybersecurity entities in order to jointly respond to a possible cyber threat or attack and explore opportunities for cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Finally, he added stated that, "Access to information is essential for generating development and wellbeing in all strata of society. The main objective of the contribution made by CABEI, the activity organizers, national authorities and international governing institutions on the subject of Information Security on the Internet is to ensure that information can be received and transmitted in appropriate, safe and reliable technological platforms. We hope that this initiative can generate specific activities in which the Bank can continue to provide support to such important local and global issues.”
The event addressed issues such as: the functioning of national cybersecurity agencies of other countries; latest trends in cybersecurity; Korean public cybersecurity policy and technologies applied by the private sector; the creation of a cybersecurity cooperation network among national entities; and possible cybersecurity projects in cooperation with the CABEI or Korea.
The activity, which was held on April 25 and 26, was organized jointly with the authorities of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of Costa Rica (MICITT), the Korean Internet and Security Agency (KISA) and the Global Cybersecurity Center for Development.
