The meeting was attended by representatives of the governments of the 27 OLADE member countries.

Panama City, December 16th, 2022 - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) sponsored the VII Energy Week, organized by the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), with the aim of generating spaces in the energy sector in the region.

"For CABEI, the energy sector is a regional priority, and with support such as this we seek to contribute to improving efficiency and reducing related costs. These spaces also allow countries to jointly propose initiatives aimed at energy strategies that include the diversification of energy sources, as well as the identification of new generation, transmission and administration models for the sector," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

In Panama alone, CABEI has provided extensive support to initiatives in the energy sector with financing for more than $246.1 million and direct benefits to more than 50,000 families, 236,700 people; in addition to 740 temporary and direct jobs generated, with a significant percentage of jobs for women, among others.

This year's Energy Week will address important and necessary topics, through the continuity of the propositional spaces that set the tone for strategic political dialogue in the region.

With a presence in the region for more than 60 years, CABEI's track record positions it as the most important source of multilateral financing; and with this support to this segment, it reiterates the commitment established through its 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy, in energy matters.
