CABEI’s Green MSME Initiative promotes sustainable energy development in Guatemala

The “5th Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Convention" was held to promote sustainable energy development in Guatemala. The event was sponsored by the Green MSME Initiative, which is executed by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The event was sponsored by the Green MSME Initiative, which is executed by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Pursuant to its Environmental Sustainability Strategy and in the framework of its Green MSME Initiative, which targets protecting the environment through MSMEs, The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) sponsored the “5th Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Convention."

The convention was held at the central campus of Universidad Galileo in Guatemala.

This event provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and further educate professionals and young people with an interest in sustainable energy development, as well as to provide highly technological energy solutions based on renewable sources. Efficient use of renewable energy fosters environmental, economic and social wellbeing.

The "5th Convention of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency" was aimed at providing a space for professionals and those interested in issues of energy and energy efficiency to generate a debate and exchange experiences in order to promote sustainable development. It also sought to raise awareness about different renewable energy technologies, as well as to streamline energy processes to improve the energy outlook. Another goal was to strengthen the network of Green MSME contacts, allowing a broader among between national and international specialists.

The event’s program included the following topics:

  • Renewable energy and energy efficiency issues.
  • Environmental issues.

On the first day, Carlos Boj, CABEI Project Manager for Guatemala, presented the Green MSME Initiative as an alternative for intermediated project financing and non-reimbursable technical assistance to promote renewable energy projects and energy efficiency.
