CABEI Vice President receives visit from CATIE Director

At the work meeting, the two executives discussed global challenges and efforts to promote regional innovation.

 

Tegucigalpa, July 20, 2016. – The Executive Vice President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora, held a meeting at the Bank’s headquarters with the Director General of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim.

During the meeting, the two officials agreed to strengthen regional initiatives in order to promote financial solutions that generate employment, economic development and the wellbeing of the region’s inhabitants.

For his part, Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez spoke about the implementation of the 2015-2019 Institutional Strategy as a tool to finance high-impact projects and initiatives that improve competitiveness and human development, as well as to carry out investments in capital formation to increase the productive capacity of the Bank’s member countries. He also emphasized that one of the focus areas of the Institutional Strategy is "Rural Development and the Environment," which enables CABEI to join forces with institutions such as CATIE in order to identify and fund programs and projects that feature regional climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives.

In addition, Attorney Rodriguez expanded on the region’s social and economic environment and on CABEI’s role in developing financial alliances with other organization’s to combat poverty and achieve its human development objectives.
