CABEI participates in 2nd Meeting of Economic Subsystem Secretariats

CABEI has made significant contributions to the region’s integration and economic development, fostering the wellbeing of its inhabitants.

Tegucigalpa, June 1, 2015. - In its role as the financial institution of the Central American Integration System (SICA), the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) participated in the Second Meeting of Secretariats of the Economic Subsystem held in Guatemala City. At the meeting, there was discussion of the progress made on the priorities defined for the first half of 2015 at the 44th SICA Summit in Guatemala, as well as preliminary ideas for priority actions to be carried out under the leadership of El Salvador during the second half of 2015.

In addition, the meeting was attended by a representative of the European Union (EU), who presented the priority areas of the European Union’s Cooperation Strategy with Central America for the period from 2010 to 2020. The EU expert’s speech focused on proposals to promote the sector of economic integration, emphasizing on the need for concrete proposals that are both integral and regional.

CABEI also participated in a workshop called "Design Thinking" held by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The workshop dealt with the new challenges for resource mobilization and the strategies implemented by the IDB to face them.

CABEI is part of the secretariats and institutions that make up the Central American economic subsystem. The Bank participates regularly in the various meetings held in order to learn about the priorities defined for the region with regard to economic integration.
