CABEI is committed to Guatemalan children

A comprehensive volunteer plan of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) in Guatemala prioritizes the wellbeing of the region’s inhabitants.

The Institutional Responsibility efforts of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) are part of a comprehensive plan that includes volunteerism, with the Bank’s collaborators participating in different initiatives to improve the living conditions of the Central American people.

To that end, two important activities were recently carried out in Guatemala. The first was a visit to the Jutiapa Hospital, located near El Progreso, Jutiapa, where the Bank’s collaborators delivered a donation consisting of food and infant care products, such as diapers, soap and wipes.

This medical center was built by a Catholic missionary group called the Hermanas Misioneras de Jesús Pobre, who greatly appreciated the efforts undertaken by the CABEI collaborators and thanked them for their solidarity with children from low-income families.

The hospitalito (little hospital), as it is commonly known, offers assistance to children suffering from malnutrition. Its patients arrive by different means: some as a result of court orders; others are brought in by their parents or relatives; and some have simply been abandoned.

CABEI’s volunteer work in Guatemala also involved delivering 500 books to a rural public coeducational school, Escuela Oficial Rural Mixta N0. 777, located in Aldea Primera Joya in the Palencia Municipality, Department of Guatemala. This donation benefitted approximately 312 young people by giving them access to reading and study materials.
