CABEI increases credit line by US$15.0 million to a private bank to benefit more than 400,000 Hondurans
Seoul, July 7th, 2022.- To promote the productive sectors, foreign trade, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Honduras, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) increased its Global Credit Line (GCL) to Banco del País, S.A. (BANPAIS) by US$15.0 million, for a total of up to US$100.0 million.
The credit line will provide financing on favorable terms for projects emphasizing green finance, foreign trade, and support for MSMEs that have been affected by the health crisis and are a fundamental pillar of the national economy, with an expected positive impact on 1,946 legal entities with an average of 518 employees and more than 408,000 individuals, 57% of whom are estimated to be women.
CABEI's Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, stated, "We are pleased to continue supporting Honduras through strategic allies such as BANPAIS, since this type of financial intermediation generates employment and opportunities for entrepreneurs, providing them with the capital they need."
BANPAIS has been an intermediary financial institution for CABEI resources for 24 years, with differentiated products for different economic sectors and the general public.
This initiative is framed within CABEI's 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy, within the human development and social inclusion and sustainable competitiveness axes, contributing to the strategic objective of contributing to inclusive economic growth.
