CABEI concentrates efforts on MSMEs focused on energy efficiency

Energy sector professionals discussed challenges and current situation.

San Salvador, August 22, 2019 - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) sponsored the Sixth Regional Energy Congress under the motto, “Energy and Digitalization: Gaps and Opportunities for Sustainability.” The event addressed fundamental issues for achieving improved competitiveness of the productive sectors, commerce and services of the region.

The congress, which was organized by the Salvadoran Association of Industrialists (ASI), analyzed three topics of vital importance for the region: renewable energy, energy management and the regional electricity market. Other points of reflection included energy policy, climate change and challenges of energy digitalization and management.

CABEI participated in the forum denominated, “Gaps and Opportunities in the Development of Small and Large Scale Renewable Energies,” in which the bank shared experiences in financing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy through financial intermediation and the Green MSMEs program.

CABEI also participated in the forum on, "Sustainable Development Financing: Success Projects and SMEs,” where together with representatives of different financial institutions in El Salvador and institutions such as AES Soluciones and ASI, it made known some of its success stories in financing the sector on such issues as renewable energy, energy efficiency and cleaner production. In addition, a number of challenges were identified for funding sources in  raising awareness of MSMEs.
