CABEI and KT Corporation sign Cooperation Agreement

The agreement will enable the strengthening of competences in the fields of telecommunications and converged ICTs.

San José, July 14, 2017. -  In order to strengthen the region’s scientific and technological capacities, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and KT Corporation of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The ceremony was held in the Bank’s San Jose regional office with the participation of CABEI Executive Vice President, Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora, and the President of KT Corporation, Mr. Tae Sung Lim.

With the signing of the document, the parties involved recognize the importance of promoting the development of scientific and technological cooperation.

Among its components, the document establishes the identification of common interest areas in the following subjects: Evolution and innovation of telecommunications infrastructure; businesses with convergent ICTs; business strategy and innovation; and the contracting of a construction company for the installation of a submarine cable.

For his part, CABEI Executive Vice President, Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora, stated that, “The agreement demonstrates that science and technology can contribute to improving the quality of life of the region’s inhabitants.”

Participants in the event included CABEI Director for Costa Rica, Mr. Alberto Cortés; Institutional Relations Office Advisor, Mr. Salvador Sacasa; and Country Manager for Costa Rica, Mr. Mauricio Chacón.
