Nearly 300 SMEs and 258,000 women and members of the LGBTIQ+ community will be among the beneficiaries of the initiatives financed by the Bank.

Buenos Aires, October 18, 2021.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Republic of Argentina formalized the "Digital Transformation of SMEs" and "Strengthening Actions against Gender-Based Violence" programs for US$50 million each, with the aim of generating technological capacities in small and medium-sized Argentine companies, as well as promoting actions to protect against violence. The programs will be executed by the Ministry of Productive Development and the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity, respectively.

In the case of the initiative in favor of SMEs, it is expected to benefit 300 small and medium-sized local companies through training to achieve a 4.0 production model, as well as the acquisition of the necessary technological infrastructure and the installation of 4.0 Transformation Centers, among others.

Meanwhile, the program focused on strengthening protection actions against gender-based violence is expected to impact 258,000 women and members of the LGBTIQ+ community, as well as one million families through the improvement and equipping of 30 Integral Territorial Centers for the assistance and containment of vulnerable people throughout the country, among other actions.

"At CABEI, we work to promote initiatives that improve the competitiveness of our member countries, but economic growth must go hand in hand with public policies that advocate for people's quality of life and seek to eliminate any type of violence that negatively impacts communities," said CABEI President Dr. Dante Mossi.

CABEI Director for Argentina and Colombia, Maximiliano Alonso, added, "CABEI is accompanying governments in their economic reactivation, in the case of Argentina, by strengthening its productive matrix through scientific and technological development for the benefit of the business sector and its workers. These initiatives are the result of the coordinated work between CABEI, the ministries and the Secretariat for Strategic Affairs.
