CABEI reiterates support to founding member Guatemala to promote new sustainable development initiatives

Guatemala City, January 15, 2024.- Reaffirming its role in strengthening the economies of its member countries, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) was part of the presidential swearing-in ceremony where Bernardo Arévalo and Karin Herrera were sworn in as President and Vice President of the Republic of Guatemala, along with their cabinet.

The activity, in which CABEI Executive Vice President Jaime Díaz Palacios participated as head of mission, took place at the Miguel Asturias National Theater with the participation of official delegations from different countries.

The Republic of Guatemala is a founding member of CABEI and for more than 63 years has supported it by implementing various investments that have benefited the population through works in university education, electricity transmission, investments for early warning and disaster prevention, and support for the MSME sector, among others. 

CABEI in Guatemala is currently executing public and private sector projects and cooperation in key sectors such as health, with the construction and equipping of new hospitals; modernization of the justice sector, through the construction of new buildings and their equipment; and various environmental sanitation initiatives and the reactivation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Bank reaffirms its willingness to work hand in hand with the new Administration to continue supporting programs and projects that promote and raise the level of economic and social development of the country; in the search for well-being and a better quality of life for Guatemalans.
