CABEI Strengthens Commitment to Belize to Promote Sustainable Development and Regional Competitiveness
In her first official visit, CABEI Executive President Gisela Sánchez strengthens commitment and cooperation with Belize.
Tegucigalpa, January 17, 2023.- The Executive President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Gisela Sánchez, made her first strategic visit to Belize with the purpose of consolidating competitiveness and promoting sustainable development in the region.
During the visit, a technical assistance agreement was signed between CABEI and the Government of Belize for an amount of US$400,000 to finance the Sustainable Tourism Development Project with resources financed by the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The agreement executed by Prime Minister John Briceño and CABEI President Gisela Sánchez will cover various initiatives ranging from the development of a feasibility study and design of protocols, strategy, and even plans to modernize tourism management systems at border crossings.
The agenda included the inauguration of the Corozal Free Trade Zone access road improvement project. At this event, Sanchez also shared the stage with the Prime Minister, John Briceño, and the Executive Director of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment, Osmond Martinez.
Additionally, President Sanchez participated in the installation ceremony of 50 Pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) surveillance cameras in various parts of the city of Belize, an event organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and New Growth Industries, and the Ministry of Economic Development.
In her statements, President Sanchez expressed her gratitude to all the institutions visited and to the collaborators who contributed to the success of this tour. This visit reaffirms CABEI's firm commitment to fostering prosperity and well-being in its member countries, highlighting the importance of cooperation to promote positive change in the region
