CABEI participates in European Union-Central America Business Forum on agrifood trade and sustainable logistics
Tegucigalpa, October 27th, 2023.- Reinforcing its role as the bridge of opportunities between the region and the world, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) participated in the European Union and Central America Business Forum.
As part of the panel of experts on logistics and sustainable trade, CABEI's representative in the country, Mauricio Chacón, highlighted the support provided by the multilateral organization to the Master Plan for the Gulf of Fonseca, a key regional initiative in this area, such as the logistics-industrial corridor on the Pan-American Highway, Special Economic Zones for agribusiness, and a Logistics Center on the border between El Salvador and Honduras.
Also the Tri-national Ferry for the transportation of goods and tourists between ports, the Center for Agri-food Technological Innovation and a Tri-national Tourism Development Plan, for the direct benefit of El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua, promoting regional collaboration and economic development.
The forum was held from October 23th to 25th, with the objective of promoting bi-regional trade and investment, as well as maximizing the use of the trade pillar of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central America.
Other topics discussed during the meeting included sustainable trade logistics, the optimization of customs verification procedures, the Central American Digital Trade Platform, the European Single Window and sustainable agri-food trade.
