The entity establishes actions that will allow access to information just like other development entities.

Tegucigalpa, August 21, 2020. – The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) makes available to the public the text of the new regulation that defines the guidelines and establishes the mechanisms to maximize access to the information held by the Bank as part of the actions to implement its Access to information Policy.

In 2019, during the LIX Ordinary Meeting of the Board of Governors, CABEI issued a Declaration on Access to Information. Through this declaration, the Bank established the importance of implementing actions that allow transparency and accountability through access to information.

As a result of this mandate, the Access to Information Policy was adopted. This Policy was approved by the Board of Directors on February 25, 2020. Currently, the Bank has initiated an internal management process in order to create the necessary guidelines and procedures to effectively implement the new Policy. As part of this process, CABEI wants all stakeholders to know the scope, provisions, responsibilities and principles of the regulation.

CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, indicated that “the Access to Information Policy aims to provide greater proactivity and predictability regarding the disclosure of information. The Bank reaffirms its commitment to transparency in the performance of its activities and strengthening its governance and accountability.”

The Bank constantly reviews and improves its regulations. With this policy, the multilateral incorporates advanced international best practices in the matter, thereby seeking to be a benchmark in the region and of its member countries. It is a great step”, confirmed Mossi.

CABEI will continue with the implementation of its Access to Information Policy, which is planned to take into effect in the first quarter of 2021.
