CABEI supports FUSALMO youth to participate in the FIRST Global Challenge 2023 and strengthen their STEM skills

San Salvador, October 2023.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) recognizes the talent of young Salvadorans, and for this reason and in line with the Human Development and Social Inclusion pillar of its 2020-2024 strategy, granted a US$5,000 sponsorship to the Salvador del Mundo Foundation (FUSALMO in Spanish) to make Team El Salvador's participation in the FIRST Global Challenge 2023 a reality.

This is a global robotics competition scheduled to take place this month in Singapore.  Team El Salvador, composed of five talented students between 16 and 18 years old, from various public educational institutions in the country, will participate in this event. These young people began their training in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) through the CampODS Vocational Club at FUSALMO and are currently in the process of preparation.

This competition is held annually in different countries with the objective of fostering cross-cultural communication and cooperation among high school students from around the world through the STEM approach. In this event, participants will be evaluated in areas such as robotics, programming, and teamwork through tasked games, which will provide a valuable academic and multicultural experience.

For its part, FUSALMO continuously supports the development of 21st century competencies in children and adolescents by introducing the STEM + LAB concept into their education. This concept aims to contribute to students’ education through technology, based on the i4 approach (Innovation, Advocacy, Inclusion and Impact) with this methodology.

In this way, the multilateral bank continues to strengthen the talent of young Salvadorans through important sponsorships through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility System Operating Committee (SASC), such as this one granted to FUSALMO, which opens the way to a successful future full of opportunities to transform the lives of young people in El Salvador and the Central American region.
