San José, 10 de noviembre 2022.- Nearly 300 student entrepreneurs from more than 30 countries around the world competed for their ideas, their applicability and how they contribute to the global agribusiness problem at the EARTH University Agribusiness Sustainability Summit, which is being held at the EARTH University campus in Costa Rica with the support of the tripartite Green MSMEs Initiative of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Government of Germany through the KfW and the European Union as part of its Latin America Investment Facility (LAIF).

The event, which awarded two grand prizes of $10,000 as seed capital to the winning businesses, was organized into 18 academic and multicultural agribusiness teams competing for recognition as the best running project of the EARTH 2022 Entrepreneurial Projects Program.

"These spaces for healthy competition encourage future businesses to move forward with innovative projects in areas that CABEI supports the strengthening of renewable energy, energy efficiency and cleaner production, which is why we are pleased to support this type of initiative to promote new generations," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

The summit also featured booths with samples of project products, cultural activities, campus tours and executive networking sessions with international organizations and strategic allies.

The Green MSMEs Initiative is a tripartite initiative whose common purpose is to contribute to climate and environmental protection through micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Republics of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. These resources are used to promote the development of small renewable energy, energy efficiency and cleaner production projects, as well as their financing through Intermediary Financial Institutions (IFIs).
